Wildlife and Nature Expedition

Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Siliguri to Lataguri, the gateway to the Dooars. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and enjoy some leisure time soaking in the serenity of this quaint village surrounded by lush forests. In the afternoon, head to Gorumara National Park, a UNESCO-recognized biodiversity hotspot. Take a jeep safari through its dense sal forests and grasslands to spot elephants, Indian bison, deer, and an array of bird species, including hornbills and peacocks. End the day with a warm dinner and an overnight stay in Lataguri.

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before setting off for Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in the Dooars. This serene haven is perfect for bird watchers and nature lovers. Keep an eye out for vibrant birds like green pigeons, kingfishers, and migratory species. The sanctuary is also home to elephants, leopards, and wild boars. After the safari, return to Lataguri for a relaxed evening.

After breakfast, drive to Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, known for its population of the majestic one-horned rhinoceros. Enjoy an exhilarating elephant safari, which offers a closer look at the grasslands and their inhabitants. The sanctuary is also home to deer, wild boars, peacocks, and the occasional leopard. After the safari, check into a nearby lodge for the night and unwind.

On day four, head to Buxa Tiger Reserve, a treasure trove of biodiversity nestled in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas. Visit the historic Buxa Fort, a site steeped in history and surrounded by verdant greenery. Later, travel to Jayanti, a picturesque village along the Jayanti River, often referred to as the “Queen of Dooars.” Enjoy a peaceful walk by the riverbank, explore the surrounding forests, or take a short hike to Mahakal Caves. Spend the evening soaking in the tranquility of this enchanting locale.

After breakfast, drive to Chilapata Forest, a dense woodland that serves as a vital corridor between Jaldapara and Buxa Tiger Reserve. Embark on a guided jungle safari, where you may encounter rare wildlife such as leopards, wild elephants, and the Indian gaur. The forest is also steeped in history, with ruins of Nal Rajar Garh fort hidden amidst the greenery. Return to your lodge after the safari and enjoy a restful evening.
