Itinerary
On arrival at NJP/Bagdogra you will be greeted by our officials and then transferred to your resort in Jaldapara. It's nearly 3.5-4hours drive from NJP/Bagdogra to Jaldapara with an approx distance of 135km. Jaldapara is a one of the National Park of Dooars famous for Housing the largest population of Indian Rhinoceros in India after Kaziranga National Park, Assam. In Jaldapara yo will be staying in a private resort. Check-in your resort and freshen-up. After lunch we will drive you to South Khayerbari, which is located at a 30min driving distance. South Khayerbari is an animal rescue and rehabilitation centre. Here you'll take a tour in battery operated car and observe the rescued leopards and Royal Bengal Tiger. Situated on the banks of River Torsha you can also do boating in South Khayerbari. After relishing the serene ambiance of South Khayerbari return to your resort. You are free for the rest of the evening to enjoy the beautiful landscape of Jaldapara. Overnight stay at Jaldapara.
Dooars Tourism Special Tips about Jaldapara: Jaldapara National Park situated under the foothills of Eastern part of Himalayas and along the bank of River Torsha in Alipurduar district of West Bengal. This forest was declared Wildlife Sanctuary in the year 1941. On May 2012 Jaldapara WS became National Park. Other than river Torsha Jaldapara NP is enriched with smaller rivers like Malangi, Holong, Chirakhawa, Bhaluka and Buri Torsha. The total area of this forest is 216.51 square km.
Every day forest officials organizes jungle safari in Jaldapara so wake up early to ensure a ticket for the jungle safari. Jungle Safari in Jaldapara is one of the famous tourist attractions of Dooars. Home of the famous Asiatic Rhino and Bengal Florican, if you are lucky during your Jaldapara Jungle Safari you will spot the herd of wild elephants and other animals and birds like Sambar, Hornbills, Cuckoos (Every year Jaldapara remains close from 15th June to 15th September. During this time period visitors cannot go for elephant/jeep safari in Jaldapara). Return to the resort for breakfast and after breakfast drive towards Phuentsholing, the southern border town of Bhutan. Phuentsholing is 30km away. After one hour drive you will reach Phuentsholing. The famous tourist interest spots of Phuentsholing are the Crocodile breeding centre Amo Chhu and wish fulfilling monastery Karbandi. In the afternoon after lunch we will drive you to Chilapata Forest. It is a 2hrs journey from Phuentsholing to Chilapata. Chilapata is famous for forming a natural corridor between Buxa-Tiger-Reserve and Jaldapara. Here you can also visit the ancient ruin of Nalraja Fort which date backs to 5th Century. Return to the resort. Overnight stay in Jaldapara.
Dooars Tourism Special Tips about Chilapata: The Chilapata forest is rich in wildlife new species continue to be found. Once this forest used to be home of large Rhinoceros populations, nowadays it could be spotted very rare. Other main attraction of this forest is the ruined "Nalraja Garh"(Fort King Nal). This fort was built in the Gupta period (5th Century). This historical site is in poor condition due to lack of proper maintenance.
After an early morning breakfast, checkout from your resort and we will drive you to NJP/ Bagdogra. It is nearly 4hours drive from Jaldapara with an approx ~135 km to reach NJP/Bagdogra via Murti. Named after the meandering river stream, Murti is one of the most beautiful destinations in Dooars. After covering nearly 61km you will reach this scenic destination. Surrounded by the emerald green forest, the surreal beauty of Murti will never cease to amaze you. Resume to your journey after admiring the beauty of Murti, the scenic River Valley of Dooars. If time allows have some refreshment on the way to NJP/Bagdogra. After you reach NJP/ Bagdogra your 2 Nights and 3 Days Relaxation in the Wilderness will come to an end.
