Wildlife Photography Expedition in Dooars

Your journey begins in Siliguri with a scenic 65 km (2-hour) drive to Lataguri, the gateway to the Dooars. Check into your lodge and freshen up before heading to Gorumara National Park for an afternoon safari. This park is a paradise for photographers, offering opportunities to capture elephants, Indian bisons, deer, and vibrant avian species amidst lush greenery. Spend the evening exploring the golden hour for photography and return to your lodge for an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, travel 20 km (about 40 minutes) to Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the oldest wildlife reserves in the region. Spend the day capturing images of leopards, deer, and colorful birds such as hornbills, kingfishers, and peacocks. The sanctuary also offers spectacular views of the Eastern Himalayan range, providing stunning backdrops for your wildlife shots. Return to Lataguri in the evening for rest and review of the day’s captures.

Depart from Lataguri in the morning and journey 90 km (3 hours) to Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the famous one-horned rhinoceros and herds of elephants. Enjoy a jeep safari to photograph these magnificent creatures in their natural environment. After lunch, head to Jaldhaka, 35 km away, to photograph the serene river landscape and spot aquatic birds or wildlife along the riverbanks. Spend the night near Jaldapara.

Drive 70 km (2 hours) to Buxa Tiger Reserve, a haven for wildlife photographers. This dense forest reserve is famous for its big cats, including tigers and leopards, as well as other wildlife such as civets, snakes, and vibrant butterflies. The rugged terrain and lush greenery create perfect conditions for capturing wildlife. Spend the entire day exploring various trails and hidden corners of the reserve. Return to your lodge in the evening for a well-deserved rest.

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Siliguri, covering approximately 130 km (4 hours). Use the drive to reflect on the thrilling wildlife encounters and stunning photography moments of your expedition. Reach Siliguri by afternoon, marking the end of this unforgettable 5-day adventure.
