About Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary
Chapramari is a small but exceptionally dense sanctuary just north of Gorumara, separated from it by the Murti river. Its 9.6 sq km of thick sal and teak forest is a favourite crossing point for elephant herds moving between Gorumara, the Chapramari corridor and the Bhutan hills.
Because the forest is compact and the watchtower sits directly above a waterhole, sighting rates for elephant, gaur and deer are among the highest in the region.
