About Jalpesh Temple

The Jalpesh temple at Jalpaiguri is one of the oldest and most revered Shiva shrines in North Bengal, its present structure rebuilt by the Koch kings and topped with a distinctive tall spire above a sunken sanctum.

During Shivaratri and the month of Shravan, tens of thousands of pilgrims walk here carrying Teesta water, and the surrounding fairground fills with music and stalls.
