About Tea Heritage Trail

The Dooars tea industry began in the 1870s, and the trail links its surviving landmarks: the oldest gardens around Gairkata and Meteli, planters' clubs, timber bungalows and factories still running century-old machinery.

It is the most rewarding way to understand how tea shaped the landscape, the towns and the communities of this region.
